About Earthworks

Earthworks Landscape Construction, LLC was founded in 2019 and is proud to be locally owned and operated. Our expertise lies in new construction landscape installation, landscape enhancement projects, landscape and drainage design, and ongoing maintenance.


We adopt a turnkey approach to ensure that both our in-house designs and those we receive from clients are executed precisely as intended. By collaborating closely with builders and clients, we strive to transform visions into reality.


We take pride in partnering with esteemed builders in our region, having cultivated strong relationships over the years. These builders and their clients are the foundation of our business.


The owner of Earthworks, Bryan Barrs, brings over 22 years of landscape experience, including 12 years in the landscape construction sector. Notably, Bryan spent six years specializing in turf management on a golf course, serving as a Spray/Chemical Technician and Assistant Golf Course Superintendent.

Earthworks is proud to employ a team of dedicated, hardworking, and detail-oriented professionals who oversee projects from inception to completion. We manage four independent teams, each consisting of three to four laborers, all equipped with their own transportation and tools. These crews are essential members of our organization, and we have enjoyed a collaborative partnership with them for over 15 years. Our crew leaders and laborers are well-versed in our mission, values, and processes, fostering a relationship built on mutual trust and respect.

Our management team is dedicated to executing the organization's strategic vision and ensuring operational excellence. Project managers deliver top operational support by collaborating with the owner/operator and selected builders.


With over 200 years of combined industry experience, our team excels in transforming outdoor spaces with attention to detail and innovative designs. We prioritize customer satisfaction, whether enhancing landscaping, installing patios, or creating ideal outdoor environments.

Shannon Boyles, Vice President

Shannon is a vital member of our team, bringing over 20 years of industry experience. In his role, he ensures that all projects, clients, and staff receive the necessary support, while maintaining the highest quality standards for our services. His extensive expertise provides Earthworks with a formidable advantage. Shannon has collaborated with numerous builders and homeowners, assisting in the design and installation of various landscapes throughout the Bluffton and Hilton Head Island areas. He takes great pleasure in cultivating relationships with his clients and transforming their visions into reality with precision, creativity, and skill.


As a native of the Lowcountry, Shannon appreciates everything the region has to offer. Outside of his professional endeavors, he enjoys spending quality time with his wife, Sara, and their three children.

Design Team

Leah Bell, PLA
In-house Landscape Architect

Leah serves as the in-house landscape architect for the Earthworks family. She oversees the design department and is dedicated to developing new construction designs that are customized, meet all requirements, and remain within budget.


A graduate of the University of Georgia in 2007, Leah has devoted her career to residential design, accumulating valuable experience in creating Lowcountry landscapes that reflect the unique identities of their inhabitants. Inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds us, Leah values her leisure time spent outdoors with her husband and two daughters.

Anderson Chaloult, Design Associate


Anderson serves as a design associate for the Earthworks team. In her role, she collaborates closely with our in-house landscape architect and landscape designers to ensure that all designs are accurately executed and uphold a high standard of custom quality.


Originally from Georgia, Anderson earned her Bachelor of Landscape Architecture (BLA) from the University of Georgia. In her spare time, she enjoys outdoor activities such as running, hiking, and gardening. Her favorite aspect of landscaping lies in the art of transforming spaces into places, a process that brings joy to both her and others, particularly when she witnesses a project come to fruition.

Tiffany White, ASLA
Landscape Designer


In her current role, Tiffany collaborates closely with our in-office landscape architect and other designers to ensure that all new construction and enhancement designs are tailored to meet client preferences.


Prior to joining the Earthworks team, Tiffany spent a decade as a mathematics teacher. She later pursued a Master’s Degree in Landscape Architecture to facilitate a complete career transition, graduating in 2023 from the University of Georgia. Since then, she has embraced the art of landscape design with enthusiasm.

Residing in Savannah, Tiffany enjoys spending her free time with her husband and two sons, engaging in various outdoor activities such as camping. Additionally, she continues to apply her mathematical expertise by offering tutoring services to students in need of independent assistance.

Build Team

Rich Ellington, Operations Manager

Rich serves as the Operations Manager at Earthworks, where he oversees all aspects of new construction and enhancement projects, including scheduling, estimating, and ensuring that all projects are completed in a timely manner.


A native of St. Louis, Missouri, Rich relocated to Bluffton in the fall of 2021. He has a strong passion for sports, particularly the St. Louis Cardinals baseball team and the St. Louis Blues hockey team. With extensive experience in the landscaping industry since 1997, Rich's background includes working with his family's landscaping company and retail nursery. He is married and has one stepdaughter.

Noah Powell, Senior Project Manager

Noah collaborates closely with the Director of Operations and fellow Project Managers to ensure that all projects are executed with the highest quality and care. Together with the Director of Operations, Noah oversees warranty items and maintains close communication with builders on new developments.


Originally from Indiana, Noah relocated to the Lowcountry in June 2021. He holds a degree in Business Management from Ball State University, where he also played college baseball. After working in the corporate sector upon his arrival in the Lowcountry, Noah realized that this path did not align with his true passion. He has always been drawn to the outdoors and sought a role that would allow him to merge his love for nature with landscaping. Noah takes pleasure in working as part of a team in the field, turning clients' visions into reality.

Frankie Catterson, Project Manager

As a Project Manager, Frankie oversees all onsite activities to ensure that installations are completed in a timely, efficient, and high-quality manner. He remains onsite until the project reaches completion. With over three years of experience in the landscape construction industry, he takes great pleasure in transforming raw land into beautiful yards. Frankie adopts a hands-on approach, engaging closely with both clients and contractors.


Frankie is a native of Beaufort County, where he was born and raised, and he possesses strong ties to the community. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time on the water with his wife, Emily, and their dog.

Enhancement Team

Scott Smith, Enhancement Manager and Designer

Scott serves as a landscape designer and enhancement manager. In this capacity, he engages with clients seeking to elevate their properties through the addition of beautiful landscapes and hardscapes. Scott conducts onsite consultations to develop a design plan that aligns with the clients' visions. He also oversees all enhancement projects in which he is involved. With over 36 years of knowledge and experience in the industry, Scott takes great pleasure in designing and creating outdoor living spaces for clients in the Lowcountry. He values the relationships he builds with clients and is dedicated to transforming their dreams into reality.


During his leisure time, Scott enjoys spending time with his wife and exploring the various festivals and attractions that the Lowcountry has to offer.

Maintenance Team

Clay Hartwell, Director of Landscape Services


Clay brings a wealth of experience and a commitment to excellence to our company. In his role, he oversees all aspects of the maintenance division, encompassing both residential and commercial properties.


A native of South Carolina, Clay enjoys life with his wife and two children. Over the past 11 years, he has worked within high-end, exclusive top 100 golf communities. An avid golfer and outdoorsman, Clay also enjoys boating. Together with his family, he is a member of the Lowcountry Community Church. Clay's favorite aspect of landscaping is surpassing customer expectations to foster organic growth.

Logan McMahon, Manager of Landscape Services


Logan has joined the Earthworks family as the Manager of Landscape Services. In this capacity, he will collaborate closely with our Director of Landscape Services to ensure that all maintenance clients and properties receive the highest quality of service.


Logan enjoys fishing, spending time with his dog and friends, and volunteering at his church. His favorite aspect of landscaping is delivering a product that delights the client.

Elizabeth Turner, Director of Sales and Marketing


Elizabeth is dedicated to enhancing the Earthworks brand while actively engaging with the community, builders, and clients. With over seven years of experience in marketing and landscape assessment, she has cultivated authentic relationships with builders, architects, and homeowners alike.


Elizabeth relocated to the Lowcountry in 2016, having spent more than 30 years vacationing in the region. In her leisure time, she enjoys the beach, supports the University of Kentucky football and basketball teams, and cherishes moments with her family.
